About Us
We are a faith-based charity that has a heart to empower those who have been affected by homelessness. We partner with local churches who provide volunteers who are trained by Hope into Action and provide additional friendship and support to our tenants. Hope is one of our core values and we seek to carry hope for all. Founded in Peterborough in 2010 with one house opening in partnership with a local church we have now grown to 16 properties offering temporary supported accommodation to those who have found themselves homeless or vulnerably housed with support needs.
How we work
Hope into Action aims to create a balanced community and applicants will be considered with this in mind. Within this community, there will be people who need a degree of support, help or supervision We offer shared accommodation with one or two other people for up to two years with support offered when it is time to move on. Our tenants will have a designated Empowerment Worker who will work with them to support and empower them to achieve goals that have been mutually agreed on.
We believe that homelessness ends when a community supports the person and there is a holistic approach to this. Because of this, each house is also supported by a church which offers volunteers to meet with the tenants weekly, befriend and support them. This could be going for a walk, a coffee, doing sports together or just listening. The aim is for the tenant’s self worth to increase and to create a positive community around them. These are normally weekly.
Our pathway to accommodation is by referral and can be done by completing a referral form either by yourself or if you are working with agencies by asking them to refer you. Please visit our website for more details.
Donating money to us
We welcome financial donations, and you can do that via our website. We are committed to keeping our rents low to encourage tenants into employment where appropriate and as a charity need to fundraise to ensure that income meets our expenditure. Therefore, your money will be put to good use and enable us to continue to do the work that we do.
